Why Choose An LED Flashlight?
What is LED? (Light Emitting Diode)
There are many reasons to choose an LED flashlight over a traditional Incandescent flashlight. Below we will go over some of these reasons.
Power Consumption –
This would be one of the main reasons for choosing an LED flashlight. Batteries can get very expensive, especially the Larger C and D cell batteries. You can also switch between different output levels to conserve power or to get the most powerful beam of light. There are also many rechargeable models as well some of which can even fully charge in as little as 90 seconds. LED flashlights can last up to 10 times longer on a set of batteries than a traditional incandescent flashlight. Some of the LED flashlights can run hundreds of hours continuously on one set of batteries. The traditional flashlight would grow very dim as the battery weakened, however with an LED the light remains constant as the battery dies out.
Longevity –
This would be another big reason for choosing an LED flashlight. The traditional incandescent bulb produces large amounts of heat which greatly diminishes the life of the bulb. The LED is a very efficient alternative. Traditional flashlight bulbs can typically have a lifespan of 1,000 to 2,000 hours, while the LED can range anywhere from 20,000 hours to 50,000 hours. Heat will effect an LED and diminish its longevity as well if it is not property designed. Most of the newer LED flashlights use different types of aluminum for the body of the light, this helps with the dissipation of the heat.
Durability –
Do you remember the old plastic flashlight (it may still be in your drawer) that one you have to bang on the palm of your hand to get it to turn on? The LED flashlight replaces those lights and is superior in durability. If you banged the plastic flashlight against something or even worse, dropped it, you would have to start over again and bang on it until the beam of light came back on. Most models of the LED flashlight can be dropped, kicked, and even run over with a car and they will still operate normally.
The quality of most of these LED flashlights is far superior than any of the other flashlights that you are used to.
